Der gesammelte Betrag reichte aus um die ersten 5 Familien mit jeweils einem Ofen und der ersten Monatsration an Briketts auszustatten – gerade rechtzeitig für den Winter!
The amount collected supports the first 5 families with a stove and a first month’s ration of briquettes – just in time for winter!

Erleichtert, nicht mehr 1-2 mal wöchentlich so weit in die Wüste laufen zu müssen, kochen die Familien auf ihren Öfen mit den Briketts, die mehr als 3 Stunden Hitze liefern.
Relieved not having to walk so far into the desert anymore 1-2 times a week, the families cook on their stoves with the briquettes, which provide more than 3 hours of heat.
Die Erleichterung über die Öfen und die Holzkohlebriketts ist groß, wie man an den Gesichtern der Frauen und Kinder sieht. Insbesondere, weil das Holzsammeln in der Namib-Wüste immer schwieriger wird. Die Familien müssen immer weiter laufen um Holz zu sammeln und die Qualität des Holzes, sprich der Brennwert, bleibt schlecht. Inzwischen gehen die Familien morgens um 6 Uhr los und wenn sie sich beeilen, sind sie gegen 15 Uhr wieder zu Hause. Ansonsten dauern die Tagesmärsche bis 17 oder 18 Uhr. Zudem wird es im Winter um diese Zeit schon dunkel und Feuchtigkeit und Nebel ziehen wieder auf.
The relief about the stoves and the charcoal briquettes is great, as you can see from the faces of the women and children. Especially because collecting wood in the Namib Desert is becoming increasingly difficult. The families have to walk further and further to collect wood and the quality of the wood, namely its calorific value, remains poor. The families now set off at 6 am and if they hurry, they are back home by 3 pm. Otherwise, the day’s marches last until 5 or 6 pm. What’s more, it’s already getting dark at this time of year in winter and the damp and fog are gathering again.
